https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/565907664 | | | With support from the Office on Violence Against Women, the Center for Survivor Agency and Justice is pleased to invite you to a webinar training, "Accessing Economic Justice for Survivors in Family Law Cases," scheduled for April 30, 2010, from 1-3pm Eastern Time. The training is geared toward attorneys who represent domestic violence survivors in family law cases who have beginner knowledge.
Economic security is critical to the short and long term safety of domestic violence survivors. How can domestic violence lawyers enhance their representation in family law cases to more effectively realize that goal? This training will provide lawyers with the resources to access economic justice for domestic violence survivors in the context of family law proceedings. Issues to be addressed include: preparing to represent a survivor seeking financial relief; protecting the survivor’s financial interests proactively; assessing and accessing resources; ordering payment of litigation costs; cultural considerations; decision-making regarding the family home; as well as the substantive law and case strategies regarding property division, spousal support, child support, and tax implications.
